Whistler 8 championship golf courses within easy reach.
Fairmont
Chateau Whistler
Golf Club (604)938-2092, 1-877-938-2092.
This course was designed by Robert
Trent Jones Jr. in 1993 and was awarded the Best New
Resort Course in Canada from Golf Digest. The layout
was achieved by allowing nature to dictate the path
without the restraints of commercial interference. Creeks, ponds and
granite rock faces are testimony to the fact that this
stunning course closely follows the surrounding area's
natural terrain. With an elevation gain of more than 400
feet on Blackcomb Mountain, this par 72 course traverses
mountain ledges and crosses rushing streams.
Golfers can enjoy the complimentary "Satellite Caddy",
a computer aided satellite yardage system on board each
cart. This new technology provides you with
valuable information to assist you in your course
strategy. The golf course yardage is 6,635.
The Clubhouse is fully equipped to handle both large
functions and casual apres-golf dining. The facility
features a complete restaurant and lounge area, pro shop,
locker rooms and complimentary shoe care service. It is
open from May to October.
Whistler
Golf Club (604)932-3280; 1-800-376-1777.

spectacular snow-capped mountain ranges crating a
dramatic setting for a meticulously groomed championship

Silver Medal, distinguishing it as one of the best golf
resorts in the world.
Exceeding the expectations of the most discriminating
golfer, the 18-hole, par 72, 6,908 yard course is
challenging, yet offers enjoyment to players of
every level. Featuring 9 lakes, 2 winding creeks and
rolling greens, the course overlooks side-by-side
Whistler & Blackcomb Mountain.
The Whistler Golf
Club also has a newer clubhouse featuring an
expanded 1300 sq foot pro shop, a 50 seat bar & grill
and an 80 seat outside deck overlooking the 18th green.
Nicklaus
North Golf Course (604)938-9898, 1-800-386-9898. This course has been awarded the 1997
Golf Facility of the Year by the BCPGA and was also
selected as Golf Digest's Best New Canadian Course for
1996. In addition to receiving these
prestigious awards, Nicklaus North was selected to host
the 1997 Export 'A' Skins Game. The event took place in
July, and hosted four of golf's greatest players; Nick Faldo, Greg Norman, Fred Couples and Jack
Nicklaus.
Located in a
tranquil valley below the towering Blackcomb Mountain
with only the rambling Fitzsimmons Creek breaking the
silence, Jack Nicklaus has created one of his most scenic,
player friendly, yet challenging courses. With a par 71,
it winds along glacier fed Green Lake, it provides the
perfect combination of excitement and enjoyment. Nicklaus
North features the highest level of conditioning in
Western Canada, a variety of terrain and distinctive
Nicklaus bunkering. The course is quite level and very walkable.
The course is home to a practice facility, including a
driving range with grass tees and an expansive practice
putting green, an impressive 15,000 sq foot clubhouse, a
golf shop, Joel's Restaurant and Lounge, all overlooking
awe inspiring Green Lake. It is open from May to October.
Big Sky
Golf and Country Club (604)894-6106; 1-800-668-7900
Rated by Golf Digest as the runner up
for Canada's Best New Course in 1994, just 25
minutes north of Wildwood Lodge, Big Sky features an
outstanding 18-hole golf experience with 360 degree
mountain views. Sitting in the considerable shadow of
Mount Currie, which towers over the course and gives it a
backdrop unlike any other in the province, Big Sky is
located in Pemberton, about a 30-minute drive from
Wildwood Lodge. It was designed by Bob Cupp, who for
nearly 15 years served as the senior designer for Jack Nicklaus. His other creations with partner John Fought
include the highly acclaimed Pumpkin Ridge near Portland
and Crosswater in Bend, Oregon. Happily the management
have Big Sky back in impeccable shape.
Cupp's design is an excellent one which rewards a bit of
gambling. On many holes, the closer you hit to trouble, and there
is lots of it with ponds, streams and bunkers everywhere,
the easier your approach to the green. Cupp made the most
of Mount Currie, with several of the holes playing
directly toward it.
The course has a top-notch teaching academy that features
2 practice holes, a double ended grass tee driving range,
and 7 practice bunkers. Whether learning the game for the
first time or just in need of a tune-up, golfers will
love Big Sky Golf Academy. The Academy offers golf
schools such as the Women Only program, and the new 1998,
Big Sky's Custom golf school for Executives, all
guaranteed to improve your game.
Big Sky is pleased to offer special tournament packages
to groups, a first class clubhouse featuring a full
service restaurant, pro shop, lockers and bag drop
service. It is open from mid April to mid October.
Yardage is 7,001. The setting and condition of Big Sky
will take your breath away. It's a must-play the next
time you're in the Whistler area. Give us a call at Wildwood
Lodge to make your
next booking.

an abundance of wildlife. The course features many elevated tees, excellent bunkers and greens
set on top a rocky ridge that dominates the property. Water comes into play on 14 holes with
ponds and creeks that twist and wind through-out the course.
The large greens have special seeding and provide mature putting surfaces that play like no other.
Garibaldi Springs is a par 64 course with 10 par 4's averaging 350 yards and 8 par 3's averaging
150 yards. Each hole has an individual style and scenic views from every angle.
